And I'm glad someone else liked the ending. I've heard a few people say they didn't like it because "oh, it wasn't PROPER Batman! Proper Batman would never quit and a PROPER Batman ending would have had him die because PROPER Batman is always dark and miserable" or some BS, but in reality they're missing the point of the Nolan films as a character study of Bruce Wayne and his journey.
And YES to you! I would also add that Nolan's movies were telling a contained story of just another verison of the Batman universe. The comic book medium alone has dozens of different versions of Batman. I, too, have heard people say that "the REAL Batman wouldn't've done that!" and it's a fair arguement because it's their personal version of Batman that they're comfortable with. I have my own version as well but I still loved the ending because I loved Nolan's interpretation of the Batman universe. So to the naysayers I say "Keep an open mind. Especially when it comes to comics. We'll enjoy them more " And maybe some day, there will be less of the Simpsons' "Comic Book Guy"-stereotypes walking around.
